Bidding for a £5.2bn (US$7.37bn) framework in the south of England has been launched by Hampshire County Council.

The Southern Construction Framework will focus on delivering construction projects to London, the South-east, and the South-west.

The four-year framework is set to launch in April next year, covering projects for 150 clients across the public sector.

The projects in London are set to cost £2bn ($2.83bn), with the South-east work valued at £1.75bn ($2.48bn), and the construction in the South-west is set to be worth £1.5bn ($2.13bn).

Eight contractors will be appointed to the lots in the South-east and London, whilst the South-west will receive 10 contractors.

The projects in the framework covers schools, colleges, fire and police stations, roads, car parks, and retaining structures.

The new scheme will replace the current £800mn (1.13bn) Southern Construction framework, which has been implemented for the past four years.

Firms such as Bam Construction, Galliford Try, Kier, Morgan Sindall, Wates, and Willmott Dixon have previously been working in the three regions under the current framework.
