THE UAE property development firm, Emaar Development, has confirmed ALEC Energy as the company to build solar panels for the Dubai Hills Mall.

ALEC Energy will develop the 6.5MW-peak solar farm to be installed on the mall’s roof.

The firm is a subsidiary of ALEC, the company responsible for constructing the Dubai Hills Mall.

24,000 solar panels will be fitted to the building, resulting in 10.5mn kwh of energy generated annually.

The renewable energy project will offset 4.62mn kg of CO2 per year, equalling the same amount of CO2 used for 1,673 passenger vehicles.

The firm will be responsible for system design, local approval, and construction service for the energy project.

“We are very excited to collaborate with Emaar Development on this exciting solar project,” reported James Stewart, General Manager of ALEC Energy.

“Solar Energy is a smart choice and has many financial and environmental benefits especially in large malls which are large consumers of power.”

“This decision will also assist the UAE in meeting its 2030 renewable energy targets.”
