World's largest spokeless Ferris wheel to open in China
The world’s largest spokeless Ferris wheel is set to be unveiled in China, spanning 475 metres, becoming a new attraction within Weifang City, surpassing the London Eye in height. With a crisscross steel structure, described as a ‘dragon spine,’ the attraction will become one of the most iconic builds within China.
Over 4,000 tonnes of steel has been utilised within the construction works. Tianjin Craftsman Manufacture have been involved in the project, alongside China Construction Sixth Engineering Division. The latter commented in a statement that the “Ferris wheel does not rotate – instead, a built in running gear rotates the cars around the circle.” Each ride will take under half an hour to complete.
Incorporating 36 individual carriages, holding up to 10 people, the structure will provide stunning views of the city and houses Wi-Fi and television sets in each carriage, providing increased connectivity and appeal for tourists and visitors.
