Germany's construction event, bauma, will once again feature an extensive programme highlighting careers in the construction industry. The THINK BIG! initiative, which launched at bauma in 2013, is organised by the German Engineering Federation and will include sessions on technical training, educational and career opportunities in the construction and building materials machinery industry.

THINK BIG! is on each day of the show, with over 12,000 school children expected to visit the 16 companies, training institutions and associations taking part, offering participants a real hands-on experience, as well as explaining the training options and what’s involved in day-to-day work in their companies.

The highlight of the event is expected to be the Workshop Live! stage, featuring 20-minute demos of construction machinery, with trainees being interviewed about their training. Companies from the sector will be providing the necessary equipment: a transport platform, a small milling cutter, a wheel loader, a hose pump, a wheel loader axle, a vibratory plate, a roller and a mobile excavator. All the action will be broadcast live on giant screens.

The THINK BIG! initiative is being supported by member companies of the VDMA Construction Equipment and Building Material Machinery Association, in particular by Bauer Maschinen GmbH, Fritzmeier Group, Geda-Dechentreiter GmbH & Co KG, Hawe Hydraulik SE, Komatsu Hanomag GmbH, Liebherr International, Terex GmbH, Wacker Neuson SE, Wirtgen Group, Zeppelin Baumaschinen GmbH and ZF Friedrichshafen. Also on board are Kiesel GmbH, the German Construction Industry Association (Hauptverband der Deutschen Bauindustrie), the Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft (a training and educational organization), the MINT Initiative and Conworld.Biz.
