With building work scheduled to start in 2017 on the London to West Midlands leg of the UK’s high speed rail network, HS2 is looking for a Construction Commissioner to handle any issues that arise during the project.

The commissioner will be responsible for dealing with any complaints between contractors and the local communities affected by the construction.

Managing Director of Construction Jim Crawford said: “We want to be a good neighbour throughout the time we build this vital new rail network.

“A Code of Construction Practice will also be put in place as we look to minimise disruption to local residents and businesses.

“But if there are any problems we want people to be reassured that there is an independent commissioner they can look to for additional help.”

The commissioner will remain impartial at all times and will be there to ensure that everyone is kept happy while this first phase of construction is completed.
