In spite of the Brexit vote impacting on the construction industry, construction giant Carillion has recently won several contract bids based in Belfast and Oman worth an estimated £600m, bringing an increased lift in company revenues.

The contract for Northern Ireland, worth £366 million, will ensure 12,000 properties within Belfast and County Down are maintained over a 10-year period, commencing from September 2016. Richard Howson, Chief Executive for Carillion said: We are delighted to have been awarded two important new contracts for the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, which build on the strong relationship we have developed with the Housing Executive for whom we have provided services for many years."

The second contract within the Middle East extends upon a contract Carillion currently has with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in maintaining 2,000 buildings over a 100,000 square kilometre area, incorporating engineering maintenance and overall upkeep, providing for 3,000 employees in a contract worth £240 million.

Richard Howson said: ''We are delighted to have secured the contract extension for PDO that reflects the strong partnership we have developed with PDO. It also reinforces our commitment to supporting PDO through the efficient management and operation of its critical infrastructure, using our sector leading ability to provide facilities management services to the oil and gas sector across the Middle East, including operating in the challenging desert environment where the vast majority of PDO's assets are located.”
