CPB Contractors wins two Australian hospital projects worth $544mn

CPB Contractors, a subsidiary of Australia’s largest contractor CIMIC, has been awarded two hospital projects in New South Wales (NSW) worth $544mn. 

The NSW government has chosen CPB to deliver Redevelopment stage 1 at the Nepean Hospital and Redevelopment Stage 2 at the Campbelltown Hospital.

The Campbelltown contract is worth $287mn and expands key clinical and support services, and integrates and expands mental health facilities and paediatric facilities. CPB Contractors Managing Director Juan Santamaria said: “CPB Contractors will bring the valuable experience from our other leading hospital projects to deliver a first-class facility for the people of Campbelltown and surrounding areas.”

The works include anew clinical services building with modern wards and patient facilities; enhanced medical and surgical children’s services;modern, centrally-located mental health units;enhanced women’s health services, including a birthing and maternity ward;state of the art operating theatres and intensive care unit; andemergency department with more treatment spaces. Construction has commenced and is expected to be complete by mid-2023.

Work has already commenced at Nepean Hospital and is expected to be completed in 2021. The project, involving construction of a new 14-storey clinical building, will generate revenue of approximately $257mn to CPB Contractors. 

The new facility, across a building area of over 55,000m2 at the existing hospital site in Kingswood in Western Sydney, will include a new emergency department, more than 200 overnight beds and 12 new operating theatres.

CPB Contractors is currently also delivering the Wagga Wagga Health Service Stage 3 Redevelopment, the Coffs Harbour Hospital Expansion Main Works, and the Campbelltown Hospital Redevelopment.

The company’s other projects in Western Sydney include Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1, The Northern Road Stages 5 and 6 upgrades, and early earthworks contracts for Western Sydney Airport.
