Phase Two tenders to begin for Etihad Rail

The UAE’s national railway network project, Etihad Rail, has announced that it will soon be issuing tenders for the second phase of the nation-wide project.

Phase Two will span between the country’s sea ports and Phase One, which passes between the Shah and Habsan fields and the Rouwass port.

The railway will link Mussfah, Khalifa port in Abu Dhabia, Jebel Ali port in Dubai, and the Saudia Arabia and Oman borders.

The UAE Cabinet has also approved the federal rail law for the construction project, confirmed by Minister of Infrastructure Development, and Chairman of the Federal Transport Authority for Land and Maritime, Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al-Nuaimi.

“Ethihad Rail is looking to appoint project managers for [Phase 2]”, Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al-Nuaimi added.

Zawya reported that the issuing of tenders will commence following the appointment of project managers and engineering consultants.

The tendering process of the second phase of Etihad Rail way suspended in January 2016, due to the reviewing of investments.
