Louvre Abu Dhabi, the civilization-focused museum, and Styro, the UAE-based materials provider of Expo 2020, have partnered to supply materials for cinemas in Saudi Arabia.

The companies aim to provide cinema construction projects in the kingdom with recyclable and eco-friendly materials that can be used as alternatives to concrete.

Styro, which manufactures expanded polystyrene, is “in discussions” with companies in Saudi Arabia, according to the firm’s General Manager, Construction Week Online reported.

“We are getting lots of questions and enquiries from Saudi Arabia, as well as consultants,” Walid Wakim informed Construction Week Online.

“[We have signed] nothing yet with Saudi Arabia and we are just in discussion, but I think things will come in the first quarter of [2019]. We hope that what we are doing with cinemas in the UAE will be transferred to Saudi Arabia.” 

The companies that have expressed interest want to know more about the cost-effective nature of Styro’s proucts, according to the General Manager.

The company’s materials have been used by Vox Cinemas projects in the UAE, as well as fir rooftop cinemas.
