On 24 December 2020, the EU and UK reached a Trade and Cooperation Agreement ("TCA"), which came into effect on January 1 2021. 

The TCA is expressed as a wide-ranging and balanced economic partnership, which the parties recognise must be underpinned by a level playing field for open and fair competition and sustainable development. It also relates to far more than trade and covers a host of other subjects that govern relations between the UK and EU. 

We are at the early stages of understanding the nature of the TCA, and its implications for the construction sector will inevitably unfold over time.
