Gripple Achieves Carbon Neutrality in UK Operations

Sustainability at the heart of construction

Gripple’s recent sustainability report — ‘Our Journey to Climate Positive: 2022 Progress Report’ — outlines a significant milestone for the company in achieving carbon neutrality across its UK operations.

“Carbon neutral for our UK operations is an important milestone on our journey to climate positivity and it also paves the way for our other manufacturing facilities across the world to do the same,” says Tasha Lyth, Sustainability Manager at Gripple, who was named Young Manufacturer of the Year at The Manufacturer MX Awards 2022.  

“We are extremely proud to have achieved this goal, through a focus on reducing carbon emissions, energy and water consumption, business travel and waste across all areas of our business.”

Certification provider Planet Mark has confirmed the achievement.

Gripple follows the Planet Mark business certification methodology on data collection and data quality for the areas of operations that contribute to its carbon footprint, including energy, water, waste, travel and some elements of procurement.

“The release of our 2022 Sustainability Progress Report helps our customers, partners, and colleagues understand more about how we are growing our business in an inclusive, environmentally conscious way,” Lyth adds.

What comes after carbon neutrality in construction?

Now that the initial goal of carbon neutrality in the UK has been achieved, Gripple is investing in upgrading its data collection processes to ensure a full carbon footprint can be assessed and analysed, allowing it to work towards the next two goals: 

• achieving carbon neutrality for global operations by reducing total carbon emissions from 862.7 to 822.6, representing a total decrease of 4.6%
• net zero emissions by 2030
